Qld: Teachers ordered to supervise NAPLAN test

Queensland's industrial watchdog says the state's students will be adversely affected
.. if teachers don't supervise the national numeracy and literacy tests.

The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission yesterday ordered teachers to supervise
the NAPLAN tests.

The Queensland Teachers' Union had voted to boycott the mid-May testing .. saying the
results would be used to compile unfair comparisons of schools on the federal government's
new MySchool website.

But Industrial Relations Commission deputy president ADRIAN BLOOMFIELD says students
are likely to find it intimidating if their teachers don't supervise the test and external
supervisors are forced to step in.
