NSW: Man seriously injured in shooting in Sydney's west
SYDNEY, April 30 AAP - A man was seriously injured in a shooting and robbery on a roadin Sydney's west last night.
Two men, aged 21 and 29, were driving their white Ford Falcon along Portia Road, Toongabbieat about 8.30pm (AEST) when a light-coloured Toyota Lexus drove up behind, headlightsflashing, NSW Police said in a statement.
After both cars had pulled over, a man armed with a silver handgun approached the firstcar and demanded money before firing a number of shots at the two men.
He took a bag belonging to one of the men in the Falcon, then got back into his vehicle,which was being driven by a second man, and sped away, a police spokeswoman said.
The 21-year-old man inside the Falcon received a gunshot wound to his stomach.
His uninjured companion drove the man to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.
The victim was later transferred to Westmead Hospital where he underwent surgery forstomach injuries and remains in a serious, but stable condition, the spokeswoman said.
Police describe the alleged gunman as being aged in his early twenties, of Europeanappearance, about 175cm tall, with short dark curly hair and a dark moustache.
He was last seen wearing a white jumper with "Nike" embroidered on the front.
