Vic: Not guilty plea for coffee shop stabbing charge

A 52-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a fellow card player in the heart after an
argument has been ordered to stand trial in a Melbourne court.

HASAN DENIZ, of Thornbury, pleaded not guilty to the murder of 38-year-old IZZET KUTBAY
in a Coburg coffee shop in Melbourne's north on October 5 last year.

Melbourne Magistrates Court has heard the men were playing cards at the International
Coffee Shop when an argument broke out after an original call in a game was changed.

It's alleged DENIZ then took out a knife and stabbed Mr KUTBAY in the heart and back.

Magistrate RODNEY CRISP has ordered DENIZ to appear at the Melbourne Supreme Court
for a directions hearing on July 17.
